Everyone:
- Valid/unexpired government-issued photo ID for yourself and your spouse, if you are married. This is for your protection! We do our best to protect you and others against identity theft!
- Your social security card or previous year's taxes (front page of your 1040 at minimum)
- Social security cards of kids or dependents you are claiming if they are new, or previous year's tax return front page if you've claimed them previously
- All of your W-2s
Small businesses and some individuals:
- Any 1099s you received from working as a non-employee or contractor
- Any costs you incurred from working in this type of situation (cell phone, mileage records, supplies purchased)
- Details about any other business income you received (sales and receipts)
- Any business expenses -- YES! Bring your shoebox of receipts if that's what you have!
- If you paid quarterly estimated taxes, provide your payment amounts
- Your K-1 statement (for those in a business partnership)
If you own property:
- Mortgage interest statement
- Property tax statement or record
- Did you buy new windows, doors, air conditioner or insulation? How about solar?
- Did you rent it out? Rental income and expense records
Other situations you might have:
- Gambling winnings (W-2G) and any record of losses you may have
- Dividends, interest, stocks and bonds, cancelled debt, real estate sales proceeds, and items related to Health Savings Accounts. We know how to handle all of these situations! Just bring in any forms you receive, especially if they say 1098 or 1099 on them.
- Social Security Statements
- Student loan interest you paid
- Large medical amounts you paid
- Childcare expenses (day care, medical costs, tuition and more)
- Charitable deduction amounts and information
- Anything else you think is important!
